I was in Orlando in the fun state of Florida with my family and like anybody else, we were excited to visit Universal Studios.

We had checked into our hotel, Coco Key, late at night and we did not have our studio passes in hand yet. We checked at the hotel kiosks and whoa! They were selling the passes at a discounted rate! Like any other tourist looking to minimize the cost, we decided to look up for a much more cheaper pass online. We checked on their official website as well as other ticketing portals but by the time we could decide, the ticket agent at the hotel kiosk left. We were left with the only option of buying the ticket at the Universal Studios itself. Since we only had a day at hand to explore, we tried our best to explore more in the shortest time. Here is how:

  • Early to Bed and Early Rising

The Universal Resort opens at 8 am. Our hotel had a free shuttle service starting at 8 am for the resort so that you reach there bang on time. We took that and reached the resort. Luckily, the queue at the ticket counter was short and sweet since we were there early so we got the tickets in no time. An important question comes up here: Which park are you planning to visit? There are three parks inside the resort namely:

    • Universal Studios
    • Islands of Adventure
    • Volcano Bay

We wanted to see all three but gosh! we only had a day in hand. So we decided to explore the Universal Studios (what tempted me to choose this was the "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Diagon Alley" 🙂 ). All three parks have separate passes but you can club all on a single pass. Visit the official website to know more.

Now, there are two types of passes.

    • Regular Pass ($115) - You have to follow the queue to get entry to rides.
    • Universal Express Pass ($115 + $70) - You get to skip the regular lines (wow 😀 )

P.S: Here I am talking only about the 1-day pass. You can even go for a 2-day or 3-day pass, as per your suitability.

Because we were here with two small kids and we had a time constraint, we chose the Universal Express Pass. Trust me, this is the best thing you can invest in at the resort because the lines are long and you will have to wait quite a long time before you are close to your fun ride. We gained entry into the Universal Studios with an Express Ticket. WooHoo!!

  • Stroller/Prams

We were there with two infants so having a baby stroller was a must. Worrying about carrying one? The Universal Resort has a kiosk where you can rent the stroller at around $15 for a day. Sounds good? Take one along and enjoy your tour. You baby is comfortable too. 🙂

  • Resort Maps

Wandering around this park is interesting but to find your favourite studio is time taking. You will need the resort map to navigate your way through this vast resort without much difficulty. You have several kiosks inside the park where you can find these maps. You can even download the interactive map and browse everything at a click.

  • Child Swap

Worried about missing the rides in the process of looking after the babies? A child swap area is available before you go on the ride. While you are taking the ride, your partner can look after the baby and vice-versa. Exploring with kids hasn't been that simple and easy, isn't it?
